Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give,
not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
2 Corinthians 9:7
We believe that systemic change begins with empathy. Our team coordinates safe, respectful interviews with unhoused individuals across the Greater Syracuse area to document their histories, their current struggles, and the specific hurdles they face. By sharing these real, lived experiences on our platform, we dismantle harmful stereotypes, educate the CNY public, and provide our unhoused neighbors with a powerful voice to advocate for their own path forward.
Central New York winters and summers can be lethal for those without a roof over their heads. Through our direct community sponsorship packages, we source and distribute waterproof/sunshade tents, cold-weather sleeping gear, and thermal coolers directly to unsheltered individuals. Our team works on the ground to identify high-vulnerability campsites and urban spaces, ensuring immediate, life-saving shelter solutions reach the people who need them most.
Stability starts with meeting basic human needs. GFTH manages a mobile distribution network fueled by grassroots donations to supply nutrient-dense hot meals and custom-built Survival Backpacks across Onondaga County. These packs are strategically loaded with high-priority essentials—including sleeping bag and/or thermal blanket, emergency rain poncho, hygiene kit (soap, toothpaste/brush, wipes), non-perishable snacks, bottled water, hand-crank flashlight, water filtration straw and Christian encouragement materials – giving individuals the physical resilience required to navigate daily life on the street.
Providing appropriate clothing, hygiene essentials, and other necessities that help individuals prepare for job interviews, employment opportunities, and a successful return to the workforce.
While survival gear can provide a critical lifeline, a permanent home is the ultimate goal.
At Grace for the Homeless, we work alongside local housing coalitions, community organizations, and legal advocates to help individuals transition from life on the streets to stable housing and renewed independence. Through community grants and targeted financial assistance, we help remove the barriers that often prevent people from moving forward.
We assist our neighbors in navigating housing applications, securing security deposits, and accessing the essential resources and support services needed to build a strong foundation for a permanent return to independent living.
